In February, Glasgow hosts its second World Sufi Festival, aiming to capture and project positive messages that have been around for centuries in the east and west. Arts, culture and heritage are at the heart of the programme.
Sufism is a mystical way of life, which emphasises respect for all religions. It crosses cultural and religious boundaries and plays a part in the lives of many people across the world. The festival helps us to better understand where we have come from and what we have in common.
Around the world, Sufi festivals are platforms for great diversity. These events bring peace and love to the forefront of community activity.
This winter festival promises to be an entertaining, informative and enchanting get-together. There is a programme of talks and workshops in the lead up to, during and after the event, with discussion of Sufi themes as experts explore what it means to be a Sufi in the 21st Century. The festival showcases performers, artists, crafts, fashion, poetry, theatre and film from Glasgow and beyond, encompassing both the traditional and modern around the Sufi theme.
